Edge Network Security | zveloDB for DNS Filtering
Using zveloDB for DNS filtering, the Client’s users can safely extend their perimeter to the Client’s edge network maximizing privacy and security across all devices and internal applications within each user’s network.
Client Profile
The Client, a highly prominent Edge Network Provider, is a U.S. based web infrastructure and website security company. The company provides content delivery network services, DDoS mitigation, Internet security and distributes Domain Name Server services to a global client base.
The Challenge
The increasing adoption of encryption and regulations related to privacy has resulted in a market where it is becoming more and more challenging for network-based security providers to provide centralized or network-based security services. For services ranging from antivirus, spam filtering, web filtering and more, the legacy architectures are proving less and less effective. In the battle over where security will be implemented, while some vendors are pursuing a security strategy at the browser, zvelo’s Client launched a breakthrough approach of moving security services to the edge of the network, closer to the website which aligns with their web hosting, DDoS mitigation and related offerings. To further this business strategy, the Client has been focused on introducing a range of cybersecurity offerings at the edge of the network, including filtering of traffic for malicious and objectionable content.
Business Requirements
The Client had a specific vision for the solution they would build that would be superior to legacy VPN, on-premise, or public cloud filtering solutions. The Client’s requirements included the need for highly accurate and rapid detections of malicious, phishing and objectionable content at the domain level, with very fast detection rates, continuous updates and the ability to have the data delivered via a data feed for ingestion into the Client’s systems and databases.
After evaluating a number of possible options and approaches, the Client decided to partner with zvelo due to zvelo’s technical abilities, flexibility of deployment, and alignment of business missions of advancing internet safety and security.
- Highly Accurate Coverage of the ActiveWeb
- Rapid Detections for Malicious, Phishing and Objectionable Content
- Flexible Deployment Options
- Continuous Data Updates
The Solution
The Client implemented the zveloDB data feed deployment for use in their DNS filtering offering. With more than 99% accuracy and coverage of ActiveWeb traffic across a network of more than 1 billion end users, and ultra fast performance speed, zveloDB more than satisfied the client’s technical performance requirements. Additionally, the flexible deployment option of enabling delivery of the zveloDB data to the Client’s edge network environment was a crucial benefit.
“We are confidently looking forward to the future as we move away from legacy security approaches, and leverage the industry’s most advanced technology to build the type of forward thinking solutions necessary to rectify the widespread issues caused by a lack of protection in terms of online privacy and security.”
