Giving Back to the Community
In 2017, the U.S. Department of Agriculture reported that 1 in 11 Coloradans (or 9.2%) struggle with hunger and do not always have enough money to buy food. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, 1 in 10 Coloradans struggle financially–many of them are low-income seniors managing to live on a fixed budget. That’s where organizations like Food Bank of the Rockies and programs like the Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) come in. The CSFP provides extra, supplemental food for low income seniors each month at no cost.
On Wednesday, April 23rd, zvelo team members based out of the Greenwood Village office participated in in one of our quarterly volunteer efforts at Food Bank of the Rockies. Team members spent the afternoon packaging boxes of food for the CSFP. Boxes included ready to eat cereal, milk, canned fruit and vegetables, rice, beans, and more.
Over the course of the afternoon zvelo team members—along with other volunteers—packaged a total of 469 boxes, equating to over 14,500 pounds of food for CSFP to distribute. It was a fun and rewarding afternoon for all!
A Special Thank You!
