zvelo’s Journey into the Metaverse
If you’re a fan of gaming, science fiction, futurism, or just developing technology in general, you’ve probably at least heard of the metaverse, if you haven’t already experienced it for yourself. If you have experienced it, then you know what it’s all about. If you haven’t experienced it, the emerging metaverse creates a very unique experience that immerses users into a realm of mixed reality, where the physical, digital and virtual worlds are blended together.
From its origins in the Sci-Fi novel, Snow Crash, the metaverse has grown into a technological reality where users can socially interact throughout a network of virtual worlds by using Virtual Reality (VR) or Augmented Reality (AR) headsets for immersive experiences or mobile and desktop devices using traditional screen experiences of 3D worlds. While the gaming industry has been building experiences in what might become the metaverse for years, we are seeing more and more growth in business, communication, and productivity applications — a wave of innovation ignited by a global pandemic that forced the world into isolation.
Many describe the current state of the metaverse as ‘the wild west’, or liken it to the days of internet 1.0. Regardless of how you describe it, the opportunities are vast. And though there are a number of businesses going ‘all in’ on building their own version of the metaverse, zvelo is just beginning to venture into an exploration of what the metaverse has to offer — both good and bad — and share that with our audience by having some fun with VRCasts from virtual worlds.
The zveloverse is what we are calling zvelo’s corner of virtual space to be used as a work area and a stage for a series of VRCasts chronicling zvelo’s journey into the metaverse, guided by Geo, zvelo’s Director of Technical Services. And, of course, it’s also a unique way to present information that comes from zvelo’s Cyber Threat Intelligence Center, hot topics from the Tech Blog, career opportunities, and more.
We invite you to follow our YouTube channel that will feature Geo’s VRCasts from the zveloverse. There is so much to explore in this new digital frontier as it continues to evolve. Stay tuned for more!
